Read the following text and answer the questions

1. Scan the text above, what do you think it is about? Put (√ ) the correct answer and (x) for the wrong answer.

ANSWER

1. a) Damak catches fish from the sea and grows rice to earn money. (X)

2. Damak is a kind, helpful, humble and not greedy person.

3. From the sentence 'From that day on he was well off. However, he still committed to guarding the sea in his area from illegal fishing.',

'Well-off' is meant to living adequately, become rich, succesfull, and wealthy.

4. From the story, we can learn what we do will definitely come back to us, good deeds will be rewarded with good things.

As well as persistence in getting something, and appreciating other people's gifts.

5. Damak is a resident who lives in a small house on Ambo Island.

His livelihood is as a fisherman. He fishes using traditional methods.

The fish he catches are then sold to get money.

One day, he was surprised when he heard a loud noise in the middle of his journey to sell fish.

Damak went to the source of the sound, and how angry he was when he found out that naughty fishermen were using bombs in illegal fishing.

He finally taught them a lesson, until the fishermen ran away.

From then on, he promised himself to protect the sea and its ecosystem.

Thanks to his persistence, the village head gave him a black hat as black as night and soft as feathers.

Damak really liked the hat, and always wore it wherever he went.

While fishing, a big bird came and Damak tried to chase it away but the big bird took his hat and took it to its nest.

Damak followed it with all his might to get his hat back.

Then, Damak stuck a knife into its nest and the big bird left.

Only Damak, the black hat, and the knife that was still stuck in it remained.

When he took the knife, he was surprised to see a lump of gold.

In the end, Damak lived a prosperous life and did not forget to keep the sea from illegal fishing until the end of his life.
