Raden Adjeng Kartini  atau yang lebih dikenal dengan R.A Kartini lahir di Jepara, Hindia Belanda, 21 April 1879.

Salah satu tokoh nasional bangsa Indonesia ini meninggal di Rembang, Hindia Belanda, pada tanggal 17 September 1904. 

Ia termasuk seorang tokoh Jawa dan Pahlawan Nasional Indonesia karena dikenal sebagai pelopor kebangkitan perempuan pribumi.

Maka dari itu pada tanggal 21 April selalu diperingati sebagai hari kartini.
